BSD earns residence at 1871

Buy Side Design (BSD) earns residence at 1871, the technology town square started last year in Chicago’s Merchandise Mart. The startup incubator is dubbed the “Silicon City” of Chicago and is home to more than 200 emerging ventures. “We are thrilled to join the 1871 community where the entrepreneurial vibe is infectious. Nowhere else in Chicago can you launch a business and be surrounded by Founders working around the clock to get their business off the ground,” states BSD Co-Founder and CEO Brenna Hardman.

Inclusion into the 1871 community is dependent on interviews and an evaluation by an independent panel. “We received our acceptance the day the SEC (U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission) lifted the ban on hedge fund advertising. The timing couldn’t be better,” shares Hardman. Once accepted into the community, members have access to a communal working space in the 50,000 square foot office and are invited to members-only seminars, classrooms, networking events, and mentorships. The innovative incubator is an environment conducive for BSD to launch its robust service offering.

Some of the 1871 mentors and backers include influential businessmen and women. Since opening their doors, visitors to 1871 include: Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Governor Quinn, the British Prime Minister, and the CEOs of Microsoft, Twitter, Caterpillar, Walgreens, Northern Trust, Groupon, and Allstate. Google is a partner of 1871 as part of their “Google for Entrepreneurs” initiative. Emanual announced, “1871 is a hotbed of innovations producing great companies around Chicago.” (Link)
